fitness inspiration

10 March, 2014

I'm going to be honest, and tell you that when it comes to body image, it took me a long time to accept that my body type is curvy. I've always envied girls who are supermodel thin, because the grass is always greener, right?

A few years ago I started to come to terms with the fact that that isn't me, and never will be, so instead of making myself feel bad, I've learned to embrace who I am instead. This has helped me to become more appreciative of the female form, in general, and I am way less critical of myself.

Lately I've been channeling Asa Soltan when I'm working out, because oh my god, dat ass! I just love her. I think she's so beautiful, and I love that she owns her curves like it's no one's business.

Who is your current fitness inspiration?

Curves for days! UGH... I am so wanting to be in shape and fit. Hard to do when you are preggo for basically two years in a row.

I always think Jennifer Aniston has a hot bod - I mean she's over 40. Which, I've got problems too, since she and I have different body types!

Who is this them? Women don't really look like this in the UK. Though we have all types, of course! I'm a constant disappointment to myself if I'm honest and always have been, not quite got to where you are yet. Getting better though, I've got a few muscles on the go and put on some good weight this year.

Melissa - I've always liked her! She's in great shape.

Meghan - I don't know who that is, but damn!

Matt - She's an Iranian-American from a reality show. I'm glad you're changing how you think, I hate how distorted body image is because of the media.

I think it takes most of us a while to accept ourselves, especially when we're all bombarded with the media's definition of beauty. We can't all have Jennifer Aniston's tight and tiny little body! Once I stopped looking at magazines and looking around for real-life examples of beauty, I was able to appreciate my own body. It took a long time, but I'm finally there now thank goodness. Happy that you are too. I don't have a celebrity role model - rather, I look at my friends, yoga teachers...people I see in person to serve as examples of healthy living.

Ha! I WISH I looked like her. Curves are something I've always coveted but it's just not in my cards, I guess. But I have rolls, so I'm not super skinny like people expect. I don't even know. All I do know is I'm sick of seeing the same body on different faces.
